Trails Recreation Center: Facility Refresh (March Update)

Exciting progress continued throughout March on the Trails Recreation Center Facility Refresh Project, with several visible improvements taking shape in both the Conestoga Room and the Gold Rush Room kitchen. This month’s work focused on moving key interior upgrades forward, improving functionality, and preparing both spaces for their final finishing touches.
Conestoga Room Flooring Completed
One of the biggest milestones in March was the completion of the new flooring in the Conestoga Room. With this portion of the project now finished, the room is beginning to look more polished and refreshed. The updated flooring helps modernize the space while also creating a cleaner, more durable surface for the many programs, rentals, and community gatherings held there throughout the year.
Progress in the Gold Rush Room Kitchen
Significant structural work also moved forward in the Gold Rush Room kitchen. The structural header for the collapsible wall has now been completed, marking an important step in preparing the kitchen area for its updated layout and improved flexibility. This work helps support the future function of the space and lays the groundwork for the next phases of construction.
In addition, crews completed extra trenching in the kitchen to accommodate the stovetop range venting. This behind-the-scenes improvement is an important part of ensuring the kitchen is equipped with the infrastructure needed for updated appliances and improved usability.
Glass Door and Header Improvements
March also included work on the Gold Rush kitchen glass doors, with the installation of additional header and track pieces. These structural components are necessary to support the updated door system and help move the kitchen closer to completion. While some of this progress may not be immediately visible to visitors, it plays a major role in the long-term function and design of the refreshed space.
Cabinet and Sink Installation in Conestoga
Another exciting step this month was the delivery and installation of cabinets and sinks in the Conestoga Room. These additions bring the room much closer to its finished form and begin to show how the updated space will look and function once the project is complete. The new cabinetry will provide improved storage and usability, while the sinks add convenience for programming and events.
To support these upgrades, plumbing work was also completed to connect the new sinks in Conestoga. This essential work helps ensure the room is ready for everyday use once the final pieces are in place.
What’s Coming Next
Looking ahead, several finishing elements are still in progress. Lights, cabinets, and appliances for both rooms are currently on order, and once they arrive, crews will be able to continue with installation and bring both spaces even closer to completion.
