Project Overview
Tall Grass Park is scheduled for several exciting improvements in 2026, thanks to valuable community feedback and growing demand for expanded park amenities. These updates are designed to better support the ways residents use the park today while enhancing the overall visitor experience for years to come.
Planned improvements include the addition of two new pickleball courts, giving the community more space to enjoy one of the fastest-growing recreational activities. The project will also include a new vault restroom to better serve park visitors and provide a more convenient experience during games, walks, and other outdoor activities.
In addition, a small boardwalk will be added along a section of the crusher-fine trail to improve accessibility and help protect the surrounding natural landscape. This project is made possible through funding from Arapahoe County Open Space and reflects Trails Park and Recreation District’s continued commitment to investing in high-quality parks, trails, and amenities for the community.
Construction for the Tall Grass Park: 2026 Improvement Project is currently proposed for Summer through Winter 2026, with mobilization expected in May. We will continue to add monthly construction updates below so community members can stay informed on progress, milestones, and what to expect during each phase of the project.

Spring 2024 - Gathering Feedback
Spring 2024 - Gathering Feedback
In Spring 2024, Trails Park and Recreation District began researching potential improvements for Tall Grass Park within the park’s existing footprint. This early planning phase focused on listening to the community and better understanding how residents use the park, what amenities they value, and what updates could improve the overall visitor experience. Feedback was gathered through surveys, polls, and public comments, helping guide future conversations around possible enhancements while ensuring community input remained a key part of the planning process.

September 2024 - Secured Funding
In September 2024, Trails Park and Recreation District announced that it had received grant funding from Arapahoe County Open Space to help bring several proposed Tall Grass Park improvements to life. The grant will cover 75% of the project costs for adding two new pickleball courts, installing a small boardwalk in a washout-prone area, and adding a vault restroom to better serve park visitors. This funding marked an important step forward in the planning process and helped make it possible for the District to move ahead with improvements shaped by community feedback.

March 2025 - Second Public Meeting
In March 2025, an updated proposed design plan for Tall Grass Park was released, giving the community a clearer look at the planned improvements for the park. Trails Park and Recreation District also held a public planning meeting on March 17, where residents could learn more about the Tall Grass Park 2025 Improvement Project, ask questions, and provide feedback. This meeting served as another important opportunity for the community to stay informed and engaged as the project continued moving forward.

November 2025 - Working with the County
The project continues to move forward as Trails Park and Recreation District works closely with Arapahoe County to finalize the required design plans and construction documents. This step is essential to ensure the Tall Grass Park improvements meet all necessary standards and are ready to advance into the next phase. Once these documents are complete, the District will be prepared to move forward with construction.
