Part Time Instructors & Trainers
Aquatics Department
A longtime Aurora/Centennial resident, Logan brings six years of swim instruction experience at the Trails Recreation Center. Their passion for aquatics began with swim team at a young age, which helped shape their belief that everyone should have the opportunity to develop strong swimming and water safety skills. They enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities, especially when they can see confidence, focus, and skill improve through practice. Known for being dedicated, upbeat, and encouraging, Logan loves creating a fun environment where swimmers can challenge themselves and grow. Outside the pool, their best friend has four legs, a wagging tail, and fuzzy ears.
With experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, head lifeguard, and Certified Pool Operator, Wilder brings a strong background in aquatics and water safety to the Trails Recreation Center. He has been lifeguarding for more than a year and recently began teaching swim lessons, where he focuses on helping kids feel safe, supported, and excited to learn in the water. Before moving to Colorado, he also spent time surfing, which helped deepen his love of being in the water. Wilder is fluent in English and Spanish, speaks some Portuguese, and is currently working toward a degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Originally from Southern California, Rachel has called Colorado home for the past 20 years. She has been coaching and teaching swimming for 25 years and has worked with swimmers of all ages and abilities, from infants and beginners to elite athletes. Rachel has been with the Trails Recreation Center since 2018 as a swim instructor and Hurricanes swim coach and holds certifications in Water Safety Instruction, CPR, first aid, and AED. She loves helping swimmers grow not only in the pool, but also in confidence, teamwork, and connection with their peers. With a background in psychology, biology, animal training, and zookeeping, Rachel is also passionate about environmental education and connecting people with nature. Her favorite part of swimming is helping athletes improve their technique and become more efficient and confident in the water.
Cynthia grew up in Colorado and developed a love of swimming at a young age, learning from her dad and through swim classes. She joined the Trails Recreation Center as a lifeguard in June 2024 and has been teaching swim lessons for more than a year. Cynthia loves helping both kids and adults feel comfortable in the water and work toward their swimming goals. She enjoys adapting lessons to each swimmer’s needs and believes swimming builds confidence, endurance, strength, and connection. Her passion for teaching began with babysitting and has continued to grow through her work at Trails. Cynthia also speaks conversational Spanish and has even helped teach her four brothers how to swim.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Lauren now lives and attends school in Aurora. She is a Red Cross-certified lifeguard with AED certification and has been a member of her school’s swim team for three years. She recently began teaching swim lessons at the Trails Recreation Center, where she enjoys sharing her love of swimming with others. Lauren loves seeing each student’s personality come through in the water and watching them discover new skills, build confidence, and feel proud of their progress. She especially enjoys working with kids and being part of a fun, supportive team. Outside the pool, Lauren participates in tech theatre and loves building LEGO sets, especially Technic sets.
Born and raised in Aurora, Eli has been swimming competitively since age six and brings a strong competitive background to his work at the Trails Recreation Center. He has been coaching and teaching swim lessons for four years, including the past two years at Trails. Eli is a three-time state qualifier in the 500 freestyle, served as captain of his high school swim team, and earned Academic All-American honors in swimming. Eli loves sharing his passion for swimming with others, especially when students arrive excited and ready to learn. His favorite part of the sport is working hard alongside teammates, building fitness, and making lasting memories. Outside the pool, Eli attends the Colorado School of Mines, where he is studying engineering, and has traveled to nine countries outside the United States.
Athletics Department
Born and raised in Centennial, Abby is currently a senior at Grandview High School. She grew up playing a variety of sports, with a particular passion for soccer and basketball, and went on to play varsity basketball at Grandview. She has been coaching at the Trails Recreation Center for three years. Abby especially loves empowering girls to take up space, build confidence, and excel in sports—particularly in spaces that have traditionally been male-dominated. Her favorite part of basketball is the teamwork it requires and the way players learn to trust and rely on one another’s strengths. Outside of basketball, she has also been playing guitar for more than 10 years.
A lifelong Aurora resident, Amy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology and brings more than 20 years of instructional experience, from teaching people to fly airplanes to helping them learn to climb. Over the past decade, she has taught dozens of first-time climbers, as well as lead climbing and lead belay skills. She loves helping students build confidence, independence, and trust in their own abilities. An accomplished alpinist herself, Amy became the first woman to climb Colorado’s highest 100 peaks in winter. She is also certified as a commercial pilot, MRI and ultrasound technologist, in CPR, aircraft firefighting and rescue, and in lead belay and climbing.
Originally from Manila, Philippines, Archie has built a wide-ranging career that includes military service, aerospace, technology, and instruction. After years of competitive tennis, a shoulder injury led him to pickleball, where he quickly developed a passion for the sport and became a certified Pickleball Pro. He has been teaching pickleball for about seven years and has been with the Trails Recreation Center for five years. Archie loves watching his students improve their game and gain a deeper appreciation for the strategy and skills involved in pickleball. Teaching has been a lifelong passion for him—he also spent 20 years teaching individuals with disabilities to ski and has taught CPR and First Aid. Archie is also a sponsored athlete for Gearbox Pickleball, Acacia Pickleball, and Erne Pickleball.
Jackson’s connection to basketball at the Trails Recreation Center started when he was just five years old, learning the game there himself. Today, he has come full circle as a coach and referee, with more than five years of experience at Trails. Much of what he knows about coaching, teaching, and officiating has been shaped by the mentors he has worked with along the way. Jackson especially enjoys seeing kids put lessons like hard work, listening, and good sportsmanship into practice. He also has a natural ability to connect with children with special needs. Outside of basketball, he is pursuing a degree in accounting and enjoys composing, performing, and teaching music, especially piano.
Todd brings decades of teaching and coaching experience to the Trails Recreation Center, with 40 years coaching basketball, tennis, and baseball and 34 years as a fifth-grade teacher in Cherry Creek School District. He has been part of Trails for 15 years and is also a certified professional tennis coach, coaching at Parker Racquet Club and serving as the lead pro at Piney Creek. Todd loves teaching the fundamentals of sports and watching players build confidence, improve their skills, and develop a lifelong passion for being active. For him, sports are about more than competition—they teach teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and valuable life skills. He has also officiated basketball for 40 years and considers himself fortunate to continue sharing his love of sports in retirement.
Originally from Marietta, Georgia, Jonathan grew up playing soccer and basketball and went on to play basketball at the collegiate level. He is currently a graduate student at the University of Denver and brings about five years of basketball coaching and teaching experience to the court. He joined the Trails Recreation Center coaching team in October. Jonathan is passionate about helping young athletes develop a love for the game while learning the valuable life lessons that come with sports. He especially enjoys building connections with players and helping them develop teamwork, confidence, and other skills they can carry beyond the basketball court. And despite living in Colorado, one adventure is still on his list—he has never been skiing!
Terri grew up on a farm in Flagler, Colorado, and brings more than 30 years of coaching and teaching experience to the Trails Recreation Center, where she joined the team in August 2025. She played volleyball at the University of Northern Colorado while earning her bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management with a coaching minor, and later played professionally for the Colorado Thunder and semi-professionally on the AVP beach tour. Terri loves watching athletes progress from learning a new skill to mastering it and seeing the confidence that comes with that growth. She was inducted into the CHSAA Hall of Fame in 2002 and continues to bring a fun, encouraging approach to coaching. Outside of volleyball, she enjoys spending time with her nine grandchildren, participating in church activities, playing pickleball, and playing the drums, flute, and piano.
Sydney is a graduating senior from Regis Jesuit High School and has played volleyball throughout her life, both in school and at the competitive club level. She has been coaching volleyball at the Trails Recreation Center for two years and later expanded into teaching gymnastics as well. Sydney loves watching kids grow through the learning process—from struggling with a new skill, to laughing through mistakes, to celebrating when they finally master it. She also enjoys building connections with participants and learning about their interests beyond class. One fun fact about Sydney: during one club volleyball season, injuries led her to play every position on the court—including libero at 5'11"!
Cultural Arts Department
Born and raised in Colorado, Erin earned an Associate of Arts degree from Arapahoe Community College and has been dancing for most of her life. Her own dance journey began at the Trails Recreation Center, where she later returned as an instructor. She started teaching at age 16 and has also choreographed high school musical productions. She loves sharing her passion for dance with young dancers and hopes to make a positive impact through every class she teaches. For Erin, dance is all about freedom, fun, and getting lost in the music. Outside the studio, she’s a self-proclaimed nerd who loves Marvel, Disney, Stranger Things, musicals, and collecting Funko Pops.
With a degree in Art Education from the University of Minnesota, Kristin has been teaching art since the early 1980s and has worked with students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. She has been part of the Trails Recreation Center for about 11 years. What Kristin loves most about teaching is helping people discover their own artistic and creative voice. She describes herself as a bit of a chameleon, always ready to shift directions and adapt her curriculum to meet the needs and interests of her students.
A retired videographer, Marilyn has been teaching photography at the Trails Recreation Center for more than 15 years. Since retiring, she has developed an even deeper passion for photography, especially working with DSLR cameras, landscape photography, and creative manual techniques. She loves helping others learn how to capture meaningful family memories while also exploring photography as an art form, creative outlet, or even a business opportunity. She is also a volunteer photographer with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, providing remembrance photography for families experiencing infant loss. Whether she’s photographing her own family, exploring Colorado’s mountains by ATV with her camera gear, or teaching a class, her favorite part is seeing students have that moment when everything clicks—and watching them fall in love with photography.
Originally from Michigan, Kathleen has called Colorado home for 45 years and has been teaching a variety of subjects for three decades. She holds a BFA in Ceramics along with degrees in math, science, and secondary education, a bilingual certification, and a master’s degree in Second Language Acquisition. She has been teaching pottery at the Trails Recreation Center for 10 years. She loves pottery because it brings together so many disciplines, from wheel throwing, sculpting, hand building, printmaking, and painting to the chemistry of glazes and the physics behind firing. Her favorite part of teaching is watching students grow into confident artists and seeing the strong, lifelong community that has formed in the pottery studio. She also enjoys learning new techniques from her students and sharing ideas along the way.
Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a focus in ballet and has been dancing since childhood. After taking a long break from dance as an adult, she found her way back to ballet through the Cultural Arts program at the Trails Recreation Center and later joined the team as an instructor. She loves helping others discover (or rediscover) the joy of dance in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. For her, ballet isn’t about perfection; it’s about having fun, learning something new, and reconnecting with a love of movement. Her dance background also includes unique disciplines such as low flying trapeze and Lyra.
A Parker, Colorado native, Daphne has been training in ballet since she was about four years old and currently dances with Parker Dance Academy. She joined the Trails Recreation Center team while attending Grandview High School and brings her own experience as a dedicated dance student into the classes she teaches. She loves watching young dancers learn, build confidence, and develop a passion for something that has been such an important part of her own life. One of her favorite parts of teaching is working on dances with her students and building connections along the way. She has also performed in "The Nutcracker" for four years, including taking on the role of the Snow Queen.
A Colorado native, Nina brings an accomplished professional dance background to her teaching at the Trails Recreation Center. She danced professionally with Colorado Ballet, Boulder Ballet, and David Taylor and was a scholarship student at the Professional Children’s School and the School of American Ballet in New York. She has been teaching at Trails for more than three years. She loves the energy and personality her students bring to class—especially the funny things her youngest dancers say—and finds inspiration in the music that brings each movement to life. Her experience also extends beyond the stage, including choreographing floor routines for Olympic Trials.
Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Robert holds a BA in Sculpture and a BS in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina. After years of balancing art with a career in programming, he made the leap into sculpting full time at age 42 with strong support from his family. He has been teaching for about 25 years and has been part of the Trails Recreation Center since it opened. He especially enjoys helping students turn an idea into a finished sculpture and watching their skills grow over time. His own work includes several life-size sculptures installed in Castle Rock, the Denver area, and South Carolina. Outside the studio, he also has a long history with soccer, having played in college and in state and city leagues for many years.
After 35 years teaching kindergarten, first, and second grade in Aurora Public Schools, Linda brought her love of working with young children to the Trails Recreation Center. She has been teaching at Trails for more than 10 years, leading Parent/Tot and Storytime Crafts classes. She loves watching children grow in both creativity and social skills and especially enjoys planning new activities for them each week. Outside of teaching, she is a proud grandmother to two sets of twins.
Originally from Maryland, Jacki moved to Colorado in 1998, where she raised her two children. Her journey at the Trails Recreation Center began unexpectedly when she donated a box of art supplies—a simple act that led to a conversation, an interview, and ultimately a teaching position. She has now been teaching at Trails for more than 10 years. A self-taught arts, crafts, and cooking instructor, Jacki primarily works with youth while occasionally teaching adults. She loves creating welcoming, hands-on experiences where participants can explore their creativity, learn practical skills, and build confidence. For Jacki, the excitement and curiosity students bring to class make teaching especially meaningful, and she is grateful to share her love of creativity with the Trails community.
Lesley has been part of the Trails Recreation Center for five years and brings a lifelong love of art and design to her teaching. Her creative practice spans paint, ink, clay, and printmaking and has been shaped by both formal workshops and independent study of artists ranging from Renaissance painters to midcentury sculptors and contemporary printmakers. Lesley’s favorite part of teaching is helping each student develop their own creative vision and watching that vision come to life in unexpected ways. With a degree in Asian Studies and experience living in Japan, she embraces a “less is more” philosophy and finds beauty in the organic, weathered, and perfectly imperfect.
Fitness Department
Lise has been teaching group fitness since 2002, when she first became certified so she could substitute for the Step Aerobics classes she loved. Over more than two decades of teaching, she has led a variety of classes, including Step, CSI, Muscle, Stretch, Ball Pilates, and SilverSneakers. She enjoys working out alongside participants and helping people learn how to exercise both safely and effectively. When she’s not teaching fitness classes, she brings her love of teaching to the classroom as a Mandarin Chinese teacher at Grandview High School.
Originally from Wheaton, Illinois, Karen has always loved staying active. Her passion for fitness grew after the birth of her first son, eventually leading her to become a Zumba instructor in 2012 and earn her Group Fitness certification in 2016. Since then, she has created and taught a variety of formats, including dance fitness, kickboxing, strength, cardio, barre, and HIIT. She joined the Trails Recreation Center team in 2024. She is passionate about making fitness fun, challenging, and welcoming while building genuine connections with participants. Music is at the heart of every class she teaches, helping bring energy and purpose to each workout. She loves encouraging people to challenge themselves, recognize what they’re capable of, and grow stronger alongside a supportive fitness community.
Jody's passion for sports and fitness inspired her to become a group fitness instructor while raising her two daughters. Before entering the fitness world, she worked in accounting and audit and earned her Chartered Accountant designation while at Price Waterhouse. She has been teaching group fitness since 2002 and celebrated 20 years at the Trails Recreation Center in March 2026. She loves encouraging members to stay active, build strength, and challenge themselves together in a supportive group setting. Born and raised in Quebec, she is fluent in French and has also had the opportunity to live in Canada, Belgium, and the United States.
Originally from Wyoming, Monica works full-time as a CPA and is also a certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. She began teaching group fitness at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and has been teaching at the Trails Recreation Center since 2014, where she leads early-morning classes. For Monica, the people at Trails are what make it such a great place to start the day. She loves the energy and dedication of the early-morning participants who show up ready to challenge themselves and support one another. Her own fitness journey has included everything from group exercise and marathon running to bodybuilding, and she most recently completed her third Spartan Sprint.
Winnie became a certified Zumba instructor in 2018 after friends encouraged her to turn her energy and enthusiasm for fitness into teaching. She later expanded into strength training, earning her group fitness certification and beginning to teach BodyPump in 2019. Winnie joined the Trails Recreation Center in May 2021 and now enjoys leading classes that challenge participants while helping them build strength and confidence. Before entering the fitness world, Winnie worked as a nurse and was also part of a Chinese dance team when she was younger. She loves connecting with members, encouraging them to push themselves, and staying active alongside them. In addition to Zumba and group fitness, Winnie has experience with Tai Chi and dynamic stretching and speaks Cantonese.
Cathie has been part of the Trails Recreation Center for 11 years and brings a lifelong background in education to her yoga classes. After many years working in public schools, she now applies that teaching experience to creating welcoming, engaging classes for her participants. Cathie especially enjoys the interaction and sense of connection she builds with those in her classes. She loves offering a variety of yoga poses to keep each class interesting and accessible. A fun fact about Cathie—she is an identical twin!
Born and raised in Windsor, Colorado, Amy danced seriously from age 12 through college and earned a B.S. in Nutritional Science with a minor in World Dance from Brigham Young University. She has been a certified Zumba Fitness instructor for nine years, all of them at the Trails Recreation Center, and began teaching Mobility Flow in 2023. Amy loves getting to know participants and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere where friendships and community can grow. She especially enjoys the variety of music and movement in Zumba, while Mobility Flow offers a refreshing change of pace and a different way to support overall wellness. Outside of Trails, Amy is a mom of four who enjoys house projects, painting, and working with power tools.
Originally from Japan, Kyoko became a certified REB3L instructor shortly after moving to Colorado and has been teaching REB3L for six years, including at the Trails Recreation Center. Kyoko loves building community through fitness and watching participants grow stronger and more confident. She teaches both REB3L Groove, a high-intensity, boot camp-style dance fitness class, and REB3L Strength, which uses high repetitions and lighter weights for toning and sculpting. Her favorite part of teaching is seeing the smiles and energy participants bring to class. Outside of fitness, Kyoko loves Japanese food, enjoys sharing Japanese culture, and is always happy to recommend a great Japanese restaurant.
Mary has been teaching fitness since 2004 and brings extensive training in yoga, strength, meditation, and adaptive fitness. She completed 500-hour yoga training through Samadhi Yoga in Denver and CorePower Yoga, along with advanced training in Bootcamp fitness, TRX, and Tai Chi. She previously taught yoga at the Trails Recreation Center more than 10 years ago and recently returned to join the fitness team. Mary especially enjoys interacting with participants and seeing the progress they make over time. She also teaches sensory and meditation training at Buckley Space Force Base and specializes in adaptive yoga for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Outside of fitness, Mary enjoys skiing, hiking, and kayaking, is an active Air Force mom, and speaks Spanish.
Fitness Department — Personal Trainers
A Colorado native, Sharon brings decades of experience in fitness, movement, and rehabilitation to her work at the Trails Recreation Center. She holds a degree in Social Work from Colorado State University, has been an ACE Certified Personal Trainer since 1998, a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant since 2013, and a 500-hour certified Himalayan Institute Yoga Instructor who has been teaching yoga since 1996. She has been with Trails since 2016. Her approach focuses on helping people move with less pain, improve posture and balance, and maintain strength and independence as they age. Drawing from personal training, yoga, physical therapy, breathwork, and meditation, she especially enjoys finding ways to help people feel better in their bodies so they can enjoy life more fully.
With a Bachelor of Science degree and certifications in group fitness and personal training through AFAA, Andrea brings 20 years of experience as a personal trainer, including 17 years at the Trails Recreation Center. She also holds SilverSneakers, CancerFit, and joint replacement specializations and focuses on small-group personal training and specialty classes. She loves building lasting relationships with her clients, many of whom have trained with her for more than a decade, and seeing their strength, confidence, and quality of life improve. Before entering the health and wellness field, she worked in behavior modification programs within the Department of Corrections. Her goal is to make physical activity enjoyable and sustainable by keeping workouts fresh, varied, and motivating.
With a lifelong love of movement, Emily grew up playing competitive soccer in Idaho and doing aerobics alongside her mom. She has been teaching fitness since 2006, with experience ranging from bootcamps to Pilates, and joined the Trails Recreation Center in 2014. She also holds personal training certifications and has coached her kids’ soccer teams. What she loves most about fitness is helping others experience the joy, connection, and confidence that come from movement. She especially enjoys finding a sense of “flow” in class—when movement, music, breath, and community all come together. Outside of Trails, she has a degree in Linguistics, enjoys working with refugee and immigrant populations teaching ESL, and is a mom of five with a squinty cat named Kenny.
Originally from Bethlehem, Palestine, she moved to the United States three years ago after studying Hotel Management and Project Management at Bethlehem University. Her path into fitness began when a trainer encouraged her to pursue certification, and she now holds NASM certifications in Personal Training and Corrective Exercise. She has been coaching for more than two years and has been part of the Trails Recreation Center team for over two years. She is especially passionate about helping seniors and women feel comfortable, supported, and confident while exercising. She enjoys combining cardio and strength training to keep workouts safe, effective, and fun. Outside the gym, she loves cooking, music, and dancing, and she is fluent in both Arabic and English.
Originally from California, Renee also lived in Reno, Nevada, before moving to Colorado four years ago. She holds a degree in education and certifications in personal training, yoga, and SilverSneakers, along with additional training in nutrition, pain-free performance, and strength and conditioning. She has been teaching fitness for about 10 years and has been subbing classes and training at the Trails Recreation Center for the past year. Renee is passionate about supporting both the physical and mental well-being of her participants and loves seeing them gain confidence and make progress. Her teaching style blends challenge, safety, and encouragement, with modifications to help each person succeed. Outside of fitness, she enjoys trying new foods, exploring new places, and taking on new adventures.
Karmen has a college background in fitness and brings extensive experience as both a group exercise instructor and personal trainer. Growing up with a father who was a health professor and multi-sport coach, fitness and an active lifestyle were always part of her life. After taking time away to raise her children, she returned to teaching 16 years ago and has been with the Trails Recreation Center for about five years. Karmen loves helping people stay active in ways that support health, confidence, and functional fitness. She encourages participants to work within their own limits, celebrate progress, and build connections with others in class. She teaches a variety of formats, including Yoga, Fusion, Splash, Cardio Core and Stretch, Deep Water, and Yoga Sculpt. Fun fact: she once did yoga on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"!
Calisse Weidner has been teaching group fitness since 1995 and has been part of the Trails Recreation Center since the doors opened in 2004. With a background in social work, she originally became certified in group exercise right out of college and later expanded into personal training, where she found a natural connection between fitness, science, and the interpersonal skills she developed through social work. Calisse loves the relationships and camaraderie that grow through fitness. She believes exercise is more sustainable when people can laugh, encourage one another, and enjoy being part of a community. Over the years, she has taught everything from step and kickboxing to personal training. And one of her most memorable past jobs? Birthday party clown—also known as “Loopie the Clown.”
Genevie Davenport is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach with a master’s degree in special education. She has been a personal trainer at the Trails Recreation Center for more than three years and specializes in strength training, weight-loss goals, and working with youth and adults with special needs and exceptionalities. Genevie is passionate about helping people make realistic lifestyle changes that improve their health, strength, and overall well-being. Her certifications include NASM Certified Personal Trainer, AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, 200-hour Yoga Certification, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach.
Tim has been part of the Trails Recreation Center for nearly six years and brings more than 15 years of coaching and training experience. Growing up as the youngest of nine siblings, sports and competition were a major part of his life. He went on to compete collegiately and professionally and is certified through both ISSA and NASM, with additional experience in strength and conditioning, powerlifting, kettlebell training, TRX, Les Mills, balance, and flexibility. Tim is passionate about helping athletes and clients recognize what they are capable of, build confidence, and grow both physically and mentally. He especially enjoys seeing people push past limits they once thought were impossible. Deeply connected to his Indigenous roots, Tim has also presented at a national conference on Indigenous drowning prevention and safety and is committed to supporting health and wellness in his community.
Amey is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and longtime group fitness instructor at the Trails Recreation Center. She believes fitness should be fun and helps her clients discover what motivates them to suceed.
Chad holds a degree in exercise science and health promotion, and has more than 20 years of fitness industry experience. He specializes in strength and conditioning, personal training, and youth sports performance.
Moe is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer dedicated to helping people unlock their full potential through fitness, nutrition, and sustainable lifestyle changes. Specializing in strength and conditioning, body building, and body transformations, he brings both expertise and real-life experience to every client relationship. As someone who lives with Type 1 diabetes and has overcome open-heart surgery, Moe understands firsthand the power of perseverance and is committed to helping others build healthier, stronger lives.
