Trails Recreation Center: Facility Refresh (October 2025 Update)

We’re thrilled to share the latest progress on the Trails Recreation Center Facility Refresh project! Construction on Phase I has been moving full steam ahead this month, and we’re already seeing exciting transformations take shape throughout the building.
What’s Been Accomplished This Month
October was all about preparation and transformation. Our construction crews have been hard at work clearing the way for what’s next by completing several major demolition tasks.
Here’s what was accomplished this month:
- Demolition of the game room – making way for a brand-new conference space that will host community meetings, programs, and small events.
- Remodel of bathrooms and the existing conference room – paving the way for reconfigured layouts and new office spaces to better serve staff and patrons.
- Flooring demo in the hallway – a noisy but necessary step to prepare for updated finishes that will brighten and modernize this highly trafficked area.
We want to extend a huge thank you to all our members and guests for your patience and understanding as crews completed these loud and dusty stages of the project. Your flexibility helps us keep everything running smoothly while we bring exciting updates to life!
Following the demolition, crews have begun framing new walls, offices, and windows—one of the first major milestones in constructing our newly designed interior spaces. These framed areas will soon take shape as functional offices and meeting rooms, giving staff and community members more comfortable, efficient spaces to work, collaborate, and connect.
A Quick Refresher: Why the Refresh?
After welcoming thousands of visitors every week for over two decades, the Trails Recreation Center has proudly served as a community cornerstone for movement, recreation, and connection. But after 20 years of constant use, even the most well-loved spaces begin to show their age.
That’s why we’ve launched a multi-year renovation and modernization effort to ensure that TRC continues to meet the evolving needs of our growing community. This isn’t just a facelift; it’s a thoughtful, phased investment in the next 20 years of Trails’ success.
We’re also honored to once again partner with Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative (OLC Designs)—the same architectural team that designed the original facility in 2004. Their deep understanding of the building’s structure and flow, paired with fresh ideas inspired by today’s recreational design standards, will ensure that the Trails remains both timeless and forward-thinking.
What to Expect Next
With demolition behind us, November will focus on rough-in work, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing installations. Once this step is complete, finishing details—like drywall, lighting, and flooring—will begin to bring the refreshed spaces to life.
Phase I (anticipated Fall 2025 through Winter 2026) includes:
- Lobby Seating Upgrades – You may have already noticed our new seating area! These bright, modern pieces set the tone for the updates still to come.
- Conference Room Conversion – The old conference room is being transformed into two private offices to help meet staff and operational needs.
- Game Room Transformation – The former game room will soon become a flexible new conference and program space for community use.
Future phases will include exciting improvements throughout the rest of the building, such as new flooring, paint, lighting, updated locker rooms, modernized multipurpose spaces, and a refreshed childcare area.
