Tall Grass Park: 2025 Improvement Project Plan

Project Overview:Thanks to community feedback and growing demand, Tall Grass Park will see several exciting improvements in 2025. Planned upgrades include the addition of two new pickleball courts, a new vault restroom to better serve park visitors, and a small boardwalk along a section of the crusher-fine trail to enhance accessibility and protect the natural landscape. This project is made possible through funding from Arapahoe County Open Space and reflects our ongoing commitment to improving park amenities for the community.
About the Location: Tall Grass Park is a 9-acre park located at 21250 East Oxford Avenue. It currently features a playground for kids ages 2-12, a basketball court, rentable picnic shelter, disc-golf course, multi-use sport field, and 0.3-mile walking trail (called Tall Grass Walking Loop) that connects to Mesa Trail and Open Space in the northwest corner of the park.
Spring 2024
Trails Park and Recreation District began conducting research and gathering feedback (through surveys, polls, and comments) regarding Tall Grass Park and potential improvements that could be made to the existing footprint.
September 2024
Trails Park and Recreation District announced that they’d received a grant from Arapahoe County Open Space to cover 75% of the cost of adding two pickleball courts, a boardwalk in a washout area, and vault restroom to the park.
March 2025
An updated proposed design plan for the park was released, and TPRD held a public planning meeting on March 17 where the public could learn more about the Tall Grass Park 2025 Improvement Project.
November 2025
The project continues to move forward as we work closely with Arapahoe County to finalize the required designs and construction documents. This step is essential to ensure the project meets all standards and is ready to advance into the next phase. Once these documents are complete, we will be prepared to move into construction.
