Lookout Pool Renovation: October Update

Lookout Pool Renovation: October Update

Monday, November 3

Trails Park and Recreation District is thrilled to share a new update on the Lookout Pool Renovation Project! Over the past several months, our team has been working diligently behind the scenes to bring this exciting new facility to life. As we move into the final stretch of preparation, we’re happy to report that the project is now transitioning from planning to on-site activity.

Where We Are Now

October marked a major turning point for the Lookout Pool Renovation Project. With construction documents nearly finalized and demolition permits approved, our partners are now preparing to begin work on-site.
Saunders Construction (the crew leading the build) is scheduled to begin mobilizing at Lookout Pool as soon as possible, with the first visible signs of progress starting in early November.

Here’s what you can expect to see in the coming days:

  • Delivery and setup of temporary fencing, roll-off dumpsters, and porta-potties on-site.
  • Construction crews will begin installing temporary access roads and erosion control measures, setting the stage for demolition and construction to follow.

Wember, our trusted project management firm, continues to oversee coordination between TPRD, designers, and construction teams to ensure the project stays on track and within scope.

A Quick Recap of the Journey

The Lookout Pool Renovation has been a carefully planned, community-driven effort that’s taken shape over the past year and a half. Some of the key milestones include:

  • February 2024: TPRD announced the closure of Lookout Pool following an audit that identified major infrastructure and accessibility issues.
  • April 2024: It was determined that building a new facility would be more cost-effective than retrofitting the existing pool.
  • May 2024: A community survey gathered input to help shape the priorities of the project.
  • August 2024: A design firm was selected to explore layout and amenity options.
  • February 2025: The TPRD Board of Directors approved the financial plan and overall project scope.
  • May 2025: Preliminary designs were shared with the community, and the commitment was made to provide regular progress updates.

Each step has brought us closer to turning community feedback and years of planning into a new, modern pool facility that meets today’s standards and tomorrow’s needs.

What’s Next

With mobilization starting in early November, residents can expect to see on-site activity ramping up throughout the month. These early efforts—temporary infrastructure setup and site preparation—pave the way for demolition to officially begin soon after. Once that milestone is reached, the transformation of Lookout Pool will truly be underway.

We’ll begin sharing monthly updates and photos as construction progresses, so our community can follow along each step of the way.

Thank You

We deeply appreciate your patience and enthusiasm as the Lookout Pool Renovation Project moves forward. This has been a long journey of planning, design, and collaboration—and now, the vision is about to take shape.

With Saunders leading construction and Wember guiding project management, Trails Park and Recreation District is confident that this new pool will serve our community for generations to come.

Stay tuned for our next update, where we’ll share photos and details as demolition begins!
