Trails Recreation Center: 2025 Lap Pool Repairs
Updated: Monday, April 14, 2025

January 2025
On January 1, 2025, the Trails Recreation Center announced the emergency closure of the lap pool due to a suspected burst pipe. While the pool was already slated for minor repairs in February, the unexpected issue forced us to accelerate and expand our efforts. Unfortunately, the contractors originally scheduled to perform the February work were unable to adjust their timeline and come earlier.

February 2025
Initial tests led us to believe that the burst pipe was under the lap pool; however, once our contractors pulled back the pool liner and removed the concrete to expose the pipes, we learned that the tests had been incorrect and the leak was in an undetermined location.

March 2025
After refilling the Lap Pool and conducting a dye test, it was found that two broken pipes (located underneath the pool deck) were cracked. These findings meant we needed to redrain the pool and close the sauna/steam room/hot tub for safety. Our contractors also began ordering the supplies needed to repair the leak and scheduling out the construction plan. The Trails Team also began making improvements to the facility during the closure, including installing new sauna benches, regrouting tiles, and making some wall repairs to the area.

April 2025
During the end of March and beginning of April, our contractors began excavating the pool deck, to repair the broken pipes, attach new piping to the pool bulkhead, and reinstall and resurface the deck. The final phase of testing will begin on Monday, April 14. This will involve filling the pool to assess the integrity of the repairs and confirm that the leak has been properly addressed and is no longer present.
Should the testing phase prove successful, we are on track to reopen the lap pool by Monday, April 28 at the latest.
We will continue to provide updates on social media and our website regarding the Lap Pool repair and the construction process.
