Tall Grass Park 2025: Improvement Public Planning Meeting

The Trails Park and Recreation District invites you to a public planning meeting for Tall Grass Park on March 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM in the Gold Rush Room at Trails Recreation Center (16799 East Lake Ave). This meeting is an opportunity for community members to learn more about the upcoming improvements, ask questions, and provide valuable feedback.

Why Your Input Matters

Community involvement is essential to ensure that Tall Grass Park meets the needs of its visitors. Whether you’re a pickleball enthusiast, disc golfer, or simply someone who enjoys spending time in the park, your voice can help shape these enhancements. Join us to share your thoughts and be part of the planning process!

Recap of the Planned Improvements

Thanks to a grant from Arapahoe County Open Space, several exciting updates are in store for Tall Grass Park. Initially announced in September 2024, these proposed plans include:

  • Two new pickleball courts – A much-anticipated addition that will provide recreational opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels.
  • A boardwalk path – Designed to enhance accessibility and allow visitors to navigate areas prone to muddy conditions.
  • A new vault restroom – A convenient facility for park visitors, enhancing comfort and accessibility.

Recent Updates and Enhancements

Since our initial announcement, the project has evolved to better serve parkgoers. One of the biggest proposed updates is the relocation of the restroom facility closer to the center of the park for added convenience. Additionally, the area around the courts will potentially feature picnic tables, benches, and a concrete seat wall, creating a welcoming space for players, spectators, and casual park visitors alike.

Looking Ahead

We are committed to keeping the community informed and engaged as we move forward with these exciting improvements. Your feedback at the March 17th meeting will play a crucial role in shaping the final design and implementation of these upgrades.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the planning meeting!

  1. Can you say exactly where the Pickleball Courts will be located? Is the existing play area being removed or are they being installed to then left of it? Also, when do you anticipate the work beginning and ending? Thanks

    1. Thanks for your question! The pickleball courts are planned for a spot just East of the basketball courts, so the currently playground area will not be touched. We will be providing a blog with updates on the timeframe later this week after our public planning session.

  2. What will be done to control noise from the 2 pickles all courts and how late will games be played on the courts

    1. Hi Greg, thanks for your comment. We specifically designed and placed the pickleball courts in such a way to reduce the noise that often comes with pickleball courts; we are also considering a variety of other ways to address the potential noise. The courts will also follow our posted park hours of sunrise to sunset.

  3. What will be done to mitigate any potential issues due to the proposed bathrooms- ie odors, drug use, vandalism, etc? I live near the park and this is a serious concern.

    1. Hi Aimee, thanks for the comment. These restrooms will follow the same schedule as the rest of the restrooms we have within the district; bathrooms are checked on a daily basis and deep cleaned on a weekly basis by a member of our team. The restrooms will also be open only during posted park hours.
