Tall Grass Park: 2025 Improvements

Tall Grass Park: 2025 Improvement Project

Update 1 (March 3, 2025)

Remember back in September of 2024 when we announced that, thanks to a grant from Arapahoe County Open Space, we would be making some improvements to Tall Grass Park? If you don’t recall, here’s a quick recap of the original proposed upgrades:

  • Pickleball Courts – With pickleball being one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, we proposed adding two new courts to Tall Grass Park, providing a great space for players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy friendly matches and competitions.
  • Boardwalk Path in Washout Area – To improve accessibility year-round, we planned a new boardwalk path to help visitors navigate areas that often become muddy or wet.
  • Vault Restroom Installation – A much-needed facility to improve park convenience, this restroom was designed to provide visitors with an easy-access restroom option without requiring a water or sewer connection.

As we’ve refined the designs and gathered community input, we’ve made adjustments that will enhance accessibility, functionality, and overall enjoyment of these spaces.

New Restroom Location for Greater Convenience

One of the biggest updates to our original plans is the proposed relocation of the new restroom facility at Tall Grass Park. Initially planned for a spot further north, the restroom is planned to be situated closer to the two proposed pickleball courts. This change will provide greater accessibility for all park visitors, ensuring that restrooms are more conveniently located in the center of the park.

Enhanced Amenities for Pickleball Enthusiasts and Parkgoers

In addition to the restroom relocation, we’re excited to announce that the area around the pickleball courts might also feature new amenities designed to make the space more welcoming and user-friendly. These proposed additions include:

  • Picnic Tables – Providing a shaded area where players can rest, spectators can relax, and families can enjoy a snack or meal together.
  • Benches – Offering convenient seating options for those waiting for their turn on the courts or simply enjoying the vibrant activity in the park.
  • Concrete Seating Wall – A durable, aesthetically pleasing seating structure that doubles as a viewing area for pickleball games. This seat wall will provide additional places for people to gather, watch games, or just take in the park’s natural surroundings.

These enhancements reflect our commitment to creating a social and inviting atmosphere at Tall Grass Park. Whether you’re an experienced pickleball player or just stopping by to enjoy the outdoors, these additions will make the park more accessible and enjoyable for all visitors.

Why These Changes Matter

As with any park project, we carefully consider the needs of the community when making adjustments to our plans. The proposed restroom relocation and new amenities near the pickleball courts are part of our broader mission to:

  • Improve accessibility – Making key facilities easier to reach so that more people can enjoy the park comfortably.
  • Enhance user experience – Ensuring that players, spectators, and casual visitors alike have a well-designed and functional space to gather and relax.
  • Promote community engagement – Encouraging social interaction, active lifestyles, and recreation in a welcoming environment.

What’s Next?

As we continue finalizing the details for Tall Grass Park improvements, we’ll keep the community informed about project timelines, construction schedules, and additional developments. Your feedback is always valued, and we encourage you to stay engaged as we work toward bringing these exciting enhancements to life.

Thank you for your support as we build a better, more vibrant park experience for everyone. Stay tuned for more updates, and we look forward to seeing you at Tall Grass Park!

Please keep in mind that these are still proposed plans and may change based on final construction costs and design needs.
