Fox Hill Park: A New Chapter for an Amazing Neighborhood Park
Published: Monday, December 1, 2025.
After months of anticipation, planning, weather challenges, and contractor delays, the Fox Hill Park improvement project is officially complete — and better than ever. This project marks an exciting milestone for the Trails Park and Recreation District as we continue our mission to create welcoming, functional, and sustainable outdoor spaces for our community. With upgraded amenities, improved accessibility, and renewed focus on long-term usability, Fox Hill Park now offers something for everyone to enjoy.
A Community Space Built to Grow with You
Nestled in a quiet corner of the district, Fox Hill Park has always served as a gathering space — a place where neighbors walk their dogs, children discover adventures on the playground, and families come together under Colorado’s blue skies. Yet as our community has grown, so has the need to refresh and re-imagine our parks to ensure they meet today’s expectations for safety, accessibility, and recreation.
The newly completed improvements reflect months of thoughtful planning, with updates designed not only to enhance the park’s amenities but also to preserve its natural charm. Visitors will immediately notice upgrades that make the site more inviting, more engaging, and more functional for families, athletes, and casual park-goers alike.
What’s New at Fox Hill Park?
A Beautiful New Picnic Shelter
One of the most anticipated additions to Fox Hill Park is the brand-new picnic shelter, thoughtfully designed to create a welcoming, shaded space for families and neighbors to gather. The shelter features durable, weather-resistant materials chosen to withstand Colorado’s dramatic seasonal changes, along with an attractive, modern look that blends naturally into the existing park landscape. It offers a clean, comfortable environment ideal for friends meeting for lunch, small community meetups, or anyone wanting a peaceful spot to take in the scenery.
With multiple picnic tables and plenty of room to spread out, the shelter provides flexibility for gatherings of all sizes. Its open-air design allows for great airflow during warm days while still offering protection from light rain and intense sunshine. The picnic shelter is now available for community use on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be added to our reservation system soon for those looking to host a special event.
A Full-Size Basketball Court for All Ages
Sports lovers have a new reason to celebrate! Fox Hill Park now features a brand-new full-size basketball court, offering a high-quality play space designed for athletes of all ages and skill levels. The upgraded surfacing provides excellent durability and traction, helping ensure smoother, safer gameplay throughout the year. Clear court lines and sturdy, weather-resistant hoops were chosen to withstand frequent use and Colorado’s weather. Whether you’re practicing free throws, enjoying a casual pickup game, or teaching a young player the fundamentals, the court offers a versatile and inviting place to stay active close to home.
Beyond being a recreational upgrade, the court adds an energetic new social hub to the park. Basketball naturally brings people together, encouraging friendly competition, teamwork, and spontaneous play among neighbors. Teens can gather after school, families can enjoy a fun outdoor activity together, and adults can use the court as a convenient fitness option without needing to visit a gym. Its central location within the park makes it easy to pair a trip to the court with a visit to the playground, a walk on the improved trails, or a relaxing picnic under the new shelter—creating a well-rounded outdoor experience for the whole community.
New Playground and Climbing Rock
Families visiting Fox Hill Park will immediately notice the completely redesigned playground, created to spark imagination, adventure, and active play for children of various ages. The new equipment features engaging elements that encourage climbing, sliding, balancing, and exploring. Safety-focused surfacing helps protect kids while they play, and the layout offers clear sightlines so parents can easily supervise from nearby benches. Whether it’s toddlers discovering their first steps of independent play or older kids testing their agility, the playground offers a fun and welcoming space that encourages creativity and movement.
Adding to the excitement, the park now features a natural-style climbing rock designed to give children a more adventurous form of play. This sculpted feature (located next to the basketball court) allows kids to practice coordination, build strength, and challenge themselves in new ways as they navigate different holds and surfaces. The climbing rock brings the feel of outdoor exploration into the neighborhood park, giving young adventurers a safe way to experience the thrill of climbing without needing to visit a mountain trail. Together, the playground and climbing rock create a dynamic play environment that supports physical development, imaginative storytelling, and hours of outdoor fun.
Improved Trails and Sidewalk Accessibility
Accessibility was at the forefront of the Fox Hill Park project. Several sidewalk adjustments and trail improvements were made to create smoother, more consistent routes throughout the park, eliminating uneven surfaces and increasing overall safety. These upgrades support easier mobility for visitors using strollers, wheelchairs, or other mobility aids—ensuring that more individuals and families can comfortably enjoy the space. The improved walkways also help guide visitors through the park’s key features, creating a more intuitive and welcoming flow from one amenity to the next.
In addition to the sidewalk improvements, the park now includes new crusher-fine nature paths, offering a softer, more natural walking surface ideal for leisurely strolls or gentle exercise. These paths invite residents to enjoy walking, jogging, or simply savoring a relaxed conversation with a friend while surrounded by fresh air and greenery. Together, the enhanced sidewalks and nature paths create an inclusive, user-friendly network that encourages movement, exploration, and connection for park visitors of all ages and abilities.
Designed With Sustainability in Mind
The Trails Park and Recreation District emphasizes long-term sustainability in every major project, and Fox Hill Park was no exception. Throughout construction, crews worked to preserve mature trees, protect natural grasses where possible, and use eco-friendly materials that reduce future maintenance needs. Updated amenities like the climbing rock, modern playground structure, and weather-resistant shelter were intentionally selected for durability. These choices not only support fiscal responsibility but also ensure that features will serve families for many years to come.
A Park That Reflects Community Voices
Community feedback played a central role in shaping the Fox Hill Park improvements. Residents expressed a desire for:
- More shade and gathering areas
- Additional play opportunities for kids
- Recreational spaces for teens and adults
- Safe, accessible pathways
By listening closely to the needs of our neighbors, the district was able to create a space that feels familiar yet refreshed — a balance that preserves what people already loved about Fox Hill Park while enhancing its benefits for the future.
Why Projects Like Fox Hill Matter
Investing in parks is an investment in community well-being. Updated outdoor spaces encourage healthy lifestyles, strengthen neighborhood connections, and provide essential outlets for recreation, creativity, and mental restoration. Parks offer a place to unwind at the end of a busy day, to gather with friends and family, and to experience the benefits of being active outdoors—something that supports both physical and emotional health for people of all ages. Improvements like those at Fox Hill Park also help ensure that every resident, regardless of ability, has access to safe, welcoming spaces where they can move, play, and connect with nature.
Fox Hill Park now serves as a model for how older neighborhood parks can be thoughtfully revitalized to meet modern needs while preserving the character that makes them special. The updated features reflect a broader commitment to long-term sustainability, accessibility, and community-centered design. More than just a collection of amenities, Fox Hill Park stands as a reminder that parks are part of the heartbeat of a healthy, thriving community—places where memories are made, friendships grow, and everyday moments become meaningful.
Come Celebrate the New Fox Hill Park
Now that construction is completed, we invite everyone to stop by, explore the new features, and enjoy everything the park has to offer. Whether you’re shooting hoops at the new basketball court, watching your kids conquer the climbing rock, or relaxing under the shade of the picnic shelter, we hope Fox Hill becomes a favorite destination for your family’s outdoor moments.
As always, thank you for your support, patience, and enthusiasm throughout this process. We look forward to seeing you at Fox Hill Park — where new memories are ready to be made.
