Lookout Pool: 2025 Renovation Timeline
February 2024
In February of 2024, Trails Park and Recreation District announced the closure of Lookout Pool. An audit conducted in the fall of 2023 underscored the pressing need for renovations to address the aging infrastructure adequately; addressing those needs would also require updating the entire facility to bring it up to current ADA standards and municipal codes, since it would no longer be grandfathered in. Recognizing the considerable investment required to do so, Trails Park and Recreation District made the decision to suspend operations for the season while it did a thorough evaluation of the pool’s condition and potential future directions.
April 2024
Following careful deliberation, it was determined that constructing a new pool facility would be more financially prudent than retrofitting the existing structure. This decision set the stage for a fresh approach to meet the evolving needs of our residents.
May 2024
Engaging our community in the decision-making process was crucial. TPRD conducted a community survey to gather insights and preferences regarding the future of Lookout Pool. The feedback received played a pivotal role in shaping the development plans moving forward.
August 2024
Trails Park and Recreation District secured the services of a reputable design firm that was tasked with exploring multiple design options; the firm began laying the groundwork for an innovative and inclusive recreation space that reflects the community’s desires.
February/March 2025
After months of meticulous planning and community input, the TPRD Board of Directors approved the financial strategy and scope for the construction of the new Lookout Pool. This milestone marks a significant step toward revitalizing this essential community asset.
May 2025
TPRD worked closely with a design firm and contractor to present a proposed design for the Lookout Pool 2025 renovation to the public. Some of the proposed features include a 6-lane lap pool, a zero-depth activity pool, a current channel, water slides, more shaded relaxation areas, and interactive spray water features for kids.
October 2025
Demolition permits have been approved, and construction documents are nearly complete.
In early November, Saunders Construction will begin mobilizing crews to set up fencing, access roads, and erosion controls—marking the first visible steps toward building the new pool.
November 2025
Construction crews officially mobilized at the beginning of November, bringing equipment on-site, establishing a safe work zone, and transitioning the Lookout Pool project from planning to action. Temporary perimeter fencing was installed to secure the construction area, and light site clearing began shortly after to remove debris and prepare the grounds for upcoming phases. While the team awaits the final permits to proceed with full-scale construction, these early steps ensure the project moves forward safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all standards.
