A New Look for Lookout Pool: Exciting Plans for 2026

In February of 2024, Trails Park and Recreation District announced the closure of Lookout Pool. An audit conducted in the fall of 2023 underscored the pressing need for renovations to address the aging infrastructure adequately; addressing those needs would also require updating the entire facility to bring it up to current ADA standards and municipal codes, since it would no longer be grandfathered in. Recognizing the considerable investment required to do so, Trails Park and Recreation District made the decision to suspend operations for the season while it did a thorough evaluation of the pool’s condition and potential future directions.
April 2024
Following careful deliberation, it was determined that constructing a new pool facility would be more financially prudent than retrofitting the existing structure. This decision set the stage for a fresh approach to meet the evolving needs of our residents.
May 2024
Engaging our community in the decision-making process was crucial. TPRD conducted a community survey to gather insights and preferences regarding the future of Lookout Pool. The feedback received played a pivotal role in shaping the development plans moving forward.
August 2024
Trails Park and Recreation District secured the services of a reputable design firm that was tasked with exploring multiple design options; the firm began laying the groundwork for an innovative and inclusive recreation space that reflects the community’s desires.
February 2025
After months of meticulous planning and community input, the TPRD Board of Directors approved the financial strategy and scope for the construction of the new Lookout Pool. This milestone marks a significant step toward revitalizing this essential community asset.
Moving Forward
Our goal at Trails Park and Recreation District is to provide exceptional parks, trails, facilities, and recreational activities to the public. With that in mind, the proposed design for Lookout Pool features a dedicated lap pool, a zero-depth activity pool, a lazy river, water slides, shaded relaxation areas, and interactive water features. These potential elements are tailored to enhance accessibility, safety, and enjoyment for all ages.
As we move forward, our focus remains on selecting a qualified contractor capable of bringing this vision to life efficiently and with the highest standards of craftsmanship. Our target is to complete construction as early as possible in 2026, ensuring that the new Lookout Pool will continue to serve as a hub of community wellness and recreation for years to come.
