Looking for a pottery class near Denver? At Trails Recreation Center, we offer pottery and clay programs that provide a hands-on experience for individuals of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner looking to get started with pottery or an experienced potter seeking to refine your skills, our classes and workshops offer a welcoming environment for artistic exploration and expression. We also offer kids pottery and clay classes to keep your little ones entertained.Â
Pottery Classes: Our experienced instructors will guide you through the process of hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, and firing. From beginner basics to advanced techniques, there’s something for everyone.
Sculpture Workshops: Create three-dimensional artworks using clay as your medium. Learn techniques such as modeling, carving, and assemblage to bring your ideas to life.
Ceramics: Discover the technical aspects of working with clay, including clay types, kiln firing, and surface treatments. Create functional and decorative ceramic pieces that reflect your personal style.
Hand-Building: Learn to create pottery pieces using slab construction, coil building, and pinching methods. Experiment with textures, shapes, and forms to craft unique and personalized artworks.
Pottery and Clay Classes
Registration periods for the Fall 2024/Winter 2025 Pottery & Clay Sessions are as follows:
- Fall Session 1 (September 9-October 20): Opens August 12 at 9:00 am and closes September 9
- Fall Session 2 (October 28-December 15): Opens August 12 at 9:00 am and closes October 28
- No class evening of October 31, week of November 25-29
- Fall Session 3 (January 6-February 16): Opens November 11 at 9:00 am and closes January 6
- Fall Session 4 (February 24-April 6): Opens November 11 at 9:00 am and closes February 24

Parent Tot Clay: 2-5 years
Connect with your child over piles of clay creations in this parent toddler art and clay class! Help your child create kid crafts and sculptures from clay that will hold memories for years in the future. A parent or guardian is required to attend with each registered child.

Pottery: If you’ve been searching for a pottery class that will teach you how to hand-build, shape clay, or use a pottery wheel, then this is the class for you! This class is designed for anyone over 16 years of age and includes all skill levels.
Hand Building 101: Hand Building Pottery 101 is a twist on a traditional pottery class. Instead of using a potters wheel, students will learn how to use their hands, fingers and everyday objects as tools to create unique designs and functional ceramic pieces. Students will not only learn the fundamentals of clay, but glaze too.
