The Trails Recreation Center’s indoor rock climbing wall is designed to accommodate climbers of all skill levels. Our wall features five distinct climbing routes, each with its own challenges and rewards. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to test your skills on more advanced routes, our wall has something for everyone.

  • Beginner Routes: These routes are perfect for newcomers who are just getting their feet off the ground. With larger handholds and less steep inclines, beginners can focus on learning the basics of climbing without feeling overwhelmed.

  • Intermediate Routes: Once you’ve mastered the beginner routes, our intermediate options provide a step up in difficulty. These routes require more precise footwork and strategic planning, offering a satisfying challenge for those ready to take their climbing to the next level.

  • Advanced Routes: For experienced climbers, our advanced routes present a true test of skill, strength, and endurance. With smaller holds, overhangs, and more complex patterns, these routes will push you to your limits and offer a sense of accomplishment when you reach the top.

All necessary equipment, including ropes and harnesses, is provided at the center, and our trained staff are always on hand to assist with belaying and ensure your safety. Whether you want to climb for fun, practice your technique, or prepare for an outdoor climbing adventure, our open climbing hours provide the perfect opportunity.

Open Climbing Hours:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
 

During these times, climbers of all levels are welcome to drop in and enjoy the wall. No prior experience is necessary, and you can climb as little or as much as you like within the scheduled hours. It’s a great way to stay active and enjoy the sense of community that our recreation center fosters.

Rock Climbing Classes

For those new to the sport or looking to enhance their climbing skills, the Trails Recreation Center offers specialized climbing classes designed to teach the fundamentals in a supportive and engaging environment. Our most popular class, Rock Climbing Rookies, is tailored specifically for kids who are eager to learn the ropes—literally!

Rock Climbing Rookies: A Beginner’s Adventure

Rock Climbing Rookies is the ideal starting point for young climbers. This beginner class focuses on teaching kids ages 7-18 the basic skills required to climb safely and effectively. Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, participants will learn essential climbing techniques such as:

  • Harnessing Up: Safety is our top priority, and the first lesson in Rock Climbing Rookies is how to properly put on a harness. Kids will learn how to adjust their harnesses for a secure fit and understand the importance of safety checks before every climb.

  • Footwork and Handholds: Good climbing technique starts with proper footwork and hand placement. In this class, kids will be introduced to different types of holds and how to use them effectively. They’ll practice precise movements that help them conserve energy and climb more efficiently.

  • Problem Solving on the Wall: Climbing isn’t just about physical strength—it’s also a mental game. Rock Climbing Rookies encourages kids to think critically as they navigate each route, developing problem-solving skills that will serve them both on and off the wall.
