Construction has begun on an improvement project at Fox Hill Park that promises to elevate the park’s accessibility, functionality, and sustainability. With completion expected in summer 2025, this initiative is designed to cater to the diverse needs of our community while preserving the park’s natural beauty.
Here’s a closer look at the planned improvements:
Expanded Playground
The playground will grow to include a new play area specifically designed for children ages 2-5, featuring age-appropriate equipment for younger visitors. This addition complements the existing swing set and playground, creating a dynamic, inclusive play environment for kids of all ages and abilities.
Upgraded Trails
To improve accessibility and enhance the overall park experience, many of the informal social trails crisscrossing the park will be formalized into crusher fines trails. These durable, low-maintenance trails will provide a safer and more reliable surface for walkers, joggers, and strollers, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the park’s scenic beauty.
New Split Rail Fence
To enhance safety and control vehicular access, a split rail fence will be installed along the park’s southern boundary near Porch Church. This addition not only ensures the protection of the open space but also maintains the park’s welcoming, natural aesthetic.
Reimagined Basketball Court Area
The park’s basketball court will be replaced with a new, level surface designed for durability and better playability. Adjacent to the court, we’re introducing a climbing boulder to encourage active recreation and a shaded shelter for rest and picnics. This multi-use space will cater to sports enthusiasts and visitors seeking leisure and socialization.
Enhanced Vegetation Management
As part of our commitment to sustainability, the noxious weeds in the area will be removed, and native plants will be reintroduced to promote biodiversity and healthier growth. These efforts will revitalize the park’s landscape, enhance its ecological value, and provide a thriving habitat for local wildlife.
Updated Trail Signage
New and improved trail signage will make it easier for visitors to navigate the park and connect with existing trails. These updates will include clear directions, safety information, and educational insights about the park’s features and natural environment.
