Behind the Build: October 2004
October marked the official countdown to the opening of the Trails Recreation Center! With interior finishes wrapped up and final inspections taking place, the center is almost ready to open its doors. From completing the pools to finalizing the skatepark, every detail is being put into place to ensure an exceptional experience for the community.
Interior Finishes & Final Inspections
One of the major accomplishments this month was the completion of all interior finishes. Furniture, fixtures, and equipment have been installed throughout the center, and final inspections have been carried out. On October 19, 2004, we received our temporary certificate of occupancy, marking the date of substantial completion. We’re now in the final stretch, with the permanent certificate of occupancy expected on November 19, 2004.
Exterior Painting & Landscaping
Outside, the final touches have also been completed. Exterior painting is done, and landscaping is nearing completion. Trees have been planted, and the irrigation system is fully functional. With site furniture arriving and installation in progress, the outdoor spaces are quickly transforming into inviting areas for visitors to enjoy.
Skatepark Progress
The skatepark is coming along beautifully. The bowl areas are now fully completed, and the transplanting of large trees has been successfully finished, bringing some natural beauty to the area. Concrete pours are continuing for the remaining skatepark features, including the grind wall and ramps. Railing installation for the street area is in progress, and the kids’ bowl area is prepped and ready for its final concrete pour.
