2025 Project: Tall Grass & Ridge Park Improvements

Park Projects 2025: Exciting Improvements Coming Soon to Tall Grass and Ridge Park

We are thrilled to announce that the Trails Park and Recreation District (TPRD) recently received two generous grants from Arapahoe County Open Space. These funds will be used to make significant improvements to both Ridge Park and Tall Grass Park, creating safer, more enjoyable, and engaging outdoor spaces for our community. While these are still proposed plans and may change based on final construction costs, we’re excited to share what’s potentially in store!

Ridge Park Improvements: A Fresh New Look

Ridge Park will become a hidden gem with the proposed park plans!

1. Playground Refurbishment

The playground at Ridge Park has long been a favorite for children, but it’s time for an upgrade. The proposed improvements will bring in new playground equipment, ensuring that kids have a safe and fun environment for play. Whether it’s climbing structures, swings, or slides, we want to create an experience that fosters creativity and active outdoor play for young park visitors.

2. Retaining Wall Replacement

The existing retaining wall at Ridge Park has been showing signs of wear and tear. With the grant funds, we plan to replace this structure to ensure the park remains safe and accessible for all. The new retaining wall will not only serve its functional purpose but also contribute to the park’s aesthetic with updated materials and design.

3. Adventure Trails for Young Explorers

A particularly exciting addition to Ridge Park is the proposed construction of an adventure trail for young children. This trail will wind through the existing pine grove, allowing kids to explore nature in a safe and engaging way. The trail will be designed to encourage curiosity and adventure, with signage that highlight the local flora and fauna.

4. Widening the Concrete Walk

Accessibility is a top priority for our parks, and with this grant, we plan to widen the existing concrete walkways at Ridge Park. This will provide more space for pedestrians, bikers, and people with strollers or mobility aids, making the park more inclusive and easier to navigate.

5. Shrub Bed Refreshment

To enhance the park’s beauty, we are proposing a complete refresh of the existing shrub beds. The updated landscaping will feature native plants, which will not only look stunning but also be drought tolerant and support local ecosystems and pollinators. These refreshed shrub beds will create a welcoming environment for park-goers while promoting sustainability.

Tall Grass Park: Enhancing Recreation and Safety

Tall Grass Park is a favorite park in the district, especially for disc golfers, walkers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks to the grant we received, Tall Grass Park is slated to receive several exciting upgrades that will improve both recreational opportunities and safety for park-goers.

1. Pickleball Courts

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and we’re excited to potentially be adding two pickleball courts to Tall Grass Park. This will provide a new recreational opportunity for players of all ages and skill levels. The courts will be a fantastic addition to the park, offering a space for casual games, friendly competitions, and socializing with fellow players. Thank you to everyone in the neighborhood who participated in our survey and requested this addition.

2. Boardwalk Path in Washout Area

Like most parks, Tall Grass Park is built with a retention pond – which means that areas of the park are often wet or muddy during rainy times. To address this, we’re proposing the construction of a new boardwalk path. This elevated walkway will allow visitors to enjoy the park year-round without worrying about muddy or flooded areas.

3. Tree Realignment at Hole 4 on the Disc Golf Course

Disc golf is one of Tall Grass Park’s most popular activities, but Hole 4 has been a tricky one. The current tree placement has led to challenges for both disc golfers and nearby homeowners. To improve the experience, we plan to readjust the tree layout along Hole 4. This will not only better protect homes and pedestrians but also create a more enjoyable playing experience for disc golfers by providing a clearer shot without compromising the natural beauty of the park.

4. Vault Restroom Installation

Another much-needed improvement at Tall Grass Park is the addition of a vault restroom. This eco-friendly and low-maintenance facility will provide a convenient option for visitors without the need for water or sewer connections. Whether you’re spending a day on the disc golf course or just enjoying a walk in the park, this new restroom will make your visit more comfortable.

Looking Ahead

While these plans are still in the planning stage, we are eager to move forward with these exciting projects. Our goal is to create parks that serve the community in the best possible way, balancing recreational opportunities, accessibility, and natural beauty. We are also committed to making the best use of the grant funds to bring as many of these improvements the community requested to life.

Thank you, Arapahoe County Open Space, for your generous grants, and thank you to our community for your continued support. Together, we’re making our parks a place for everyone to enjoy!

Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of these projects and others like it!
