Trails Summer Camp Schedule
Summer is just around the corner, and what better way to make the most of it than by joining our exciting summer camps at The Trails Recreation Center? Whether you’re looking for an art camp for kids or a sports camp that’ll keep kids active, our camps offer a perfect blend of adventure, learning, and fun for kids of all ages.
With over a dozen summer camps to offer – from STEM camps to STREAM (STEM and Reading) to Theater to Sports to Art – we know you’ll be able to find something that fits your family perfectly. In this blog, we’re going to break down our summer camp program into weeks, so you can see at a glance what camps are being offered when (along with direct links to register). We recommend signing up soon though, since space is limited and spots fill up quickly!

Mummy’s Tomb Adventures with Lego (ages 6-11)
- Calling all young LEGO® adventurers! Let’s play games and build amazing projects together inspired by stories of the Mummy’s Tomb; from pyramids to the Sphinx, to chests filled with forbidden treasure and more! With the help of Lego Technic pieces, motors/battery packs, and the WeDo2.0 application, students will get their projects moving and sounding. We strive to teach kids STEM concepts while they have a ton of fun. Plus, campers take home a custom, LEGO® mini-figure at the end of camp.

Advanced Robotics with Lego EV3 Mindstorms (ages 8-14)
- Calling all LEGO® Robotic Inventors! Kids grow critical thinking and creativity skills in this mind-blowing camp where ideas can become reality. Our campers start with building cool robots and finish with creating their own designs using Mindstorms EV3 systems. The robots can be programmed to move, adjust speed levels, turn, avoid obstacles, make noise, and more. Join us for this amazing camp!

Movie Makers (ages 9-17)
- This hands-on, interactive course will instruct students on the world of digital video design and production. Students will film, direct and edit their own digital video creations. Students enrolled in this course amaze their peers with green screen and special effects work.

Video Game Design Session 1 (ages 10-17)
- This course provides students with a fun interactive look at the world of mobile video game design and development. Students enrolled in this camp will learn the basics of video game design and produce several different interactive video games to share with their friends and family.

ArtBlazers (ages 6-11)
- Kids discover the inspiring masterpieces and artists who have changed the world of art, and the world as we know it – from Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits to Keith Haring’s street art. They experiment with different art techniques, and use Crayola® art materials to express their ideas. They design a different unique, artist-inspired creation each class. We encourage them to create the change that they want to see in the world!

- In this baking camp you will learn all of the basic knowledge needed to truly become a confident baker. - This class gives students a look at online game development and puts them in the driver’s seat of simple game creation. Students in this course will develop online games including arcade style, platform, and other interactive games that they can publish and share online. Students will also use their games in an eSport setting and compete like real gamers.

Alien Invasion Movie Magic (ages 8-14)
- Aliens have landed! Young filmmakers work together, using a Project Based Learning approach to make an Alien Invasion movie that is out of this world! Students actively engage in all aspects of a professional film set. They become directors, film crew and actors-honing their craft, building their critical thinking skills, and gaining a sense of ownership. This class includes MOVIE SCRIPTS & Award certificate.

Make your own ooey, gooey Mad Science slime to take home! Observe nickels being copper plated and become captivated by dry ice bubbles. From proper use of equipment and lab safety to molecular structure and more, this innovative program explores the exciting world of basic chemistry! Grab your lab coat and let’s head to the laboratory for some chemical curiosities.

Junior Engineering with Lego Bricks Camp (ages 4-5)
- Jr. Engineering camp is created for young kids who love to explore and build. Kids naturally think like engineers and our camp is designed to stretch their thinking skills. We start by introducing age-appropriate models using LEGO® bricks, and then inspire kids to engineer and create. This camp is full of fun LEGO® activities, challenging builds and games, which help explore and build on kids’ natural engineering skills.

The Gaming Academy Session 1 (ages 10-17)
- The gaming academy is an all day course for students who love games. During this course students will be immersed into the world of 2D and 3D game design. - Level up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Race Across the Rainforest (ages 5-12)
- Race into an unforgettable journey through the amazing Amazon Rainforest with Challenge Island book characters Daniel, Joy, Kimani and DaVinci. You and your STEAM Team will zip through the jungle’s action-packed layers, taking on challenges inspired by the rainforest’s awesome animal inhabitants – from the playful monkeys to the hungry jaguars to the slithering anacondas on the dark and creepy forest floor. This magical camp is a must for all kids who love animals, books, and endless adventure!

- Rev up your R.V.s for a cross-country ride STEAM adventure! You and your tribe will play and engineer your way from sea to shining sea: from the Statue of Liberty to Yosemite; from the Colorado Rockies to the Hawaiian Volcanoes; from the Great Lakes to the Golden Gate Bridge; from the theme parks of Orlando to the red carpets of Hollywood. Ultimate Fantasy Quest Session 1 (ages 12-18)
- Welcome to the ultimate hardcore fantasy camp – a realm where your most epic dreams become reality! Get ready for an immersive adventure like no other, tailored for the most dedicated fantasy enthusiasts. In this camp, you’ll live out your wildest fantasies in a meticulously crafted fantasy world. Face formidable foes, solve intricate quests, and unlock the secrets of a rich and immersive storyline. Your challenges will be physically demanding and mentally stimulating, from battling mythical creatures to deciphering ancient riddles. This is the camp where your swordsmanship, spellcasting, and strategic thinking will be put to the test. MindCraft Trap Escape Room (ages 8-14)
- Can your student escape the MindCraft Trap? In this unique camp, kids learn codes/ciphers, figure out escape challenges and puzzles, and solve Minecraft inspired mysteries. Then, working with other avatars (other students), they will create their own mini, Minecraft-inspired escape room. Will they escape a mine full of creepers and skeletons, find treasure in an underwater temple, or triumph over the Nether dragon? It will be up to them! The last day of camp they will attempt our “MindCraft Trap Escape” experience where they must solve a series of puzzles or be caught in a clever contraption.

The Gaming Academy Session 2 (ages 10-17)

- Kids have a BLAST in YOUth TUBEr, learning on-camera presence and content creation in a hands-on collaborative environment! Our YOUth TUBEr kids develop their storytelling style and build social communication skills using a STEAM-based learning approach, students develop their digital well-being with an awareness for online safety. This class includes a YT Workbook & Award Certificate. A few weeks after the last class, kids will receive one professionally edited YT video.
